Question the purchase or just the supplier
Waterboy67

We purchased a Pulse in August of 2019. Right out of the gate the 2 speed pump overheated and shutdown. Took 2 trips by the service technicians to verify the pump failure. Thankfully Hotspring warranted it. I asked about the Freshwater Salt system and was told by the supplier that it was fine. Never had a chlorine reading since we owned it, unless you add concentrated chlorine. I am now on my 6th cartridge since I purchased it. So much for 4 months for each cartige to maintain disinfectant. Then in August we had a small wind storm come through Iowa that stuck to tree branch though the cover. Been waiting for contact and the cover going on 5 months now. Finally went to another distributor in Cedar Rapids and found out I am not alone with the problems I have had. Been so disappointed with where we purchased it from I have started looking for alternatives. Will give the Quad City's another try to make it right. Was just so much more impressed with staff in Cedar Rapids.
It most likely wouldn't bother me except I had Certified Pool Operator training and was in drinking water for 32 years. The drinking water training was the reason for the salt system and the military is why I document everything.
Hope I can get it resolved. The electrodes are expensive when you only get 2 months from them and supplement with granular chlorine.

Very difficult to maintain chlorine balance

I purchased the salt water system and I've had nothing but trouble getting chlorine levels to be maintained. I was told to put my salt level at a 5 and I will basically never have to add chlorine, I've tried contacting my dealer and no one seems to know anything to help me. I've had my salt system at 9 for the last week and only used the hot tub twice and my chlorine levels are virtually nonexistent. I'm adding bleach almost daily. I paid for this system so that I wouldn't have to spend so much time trying to maintain my levels. Seems like a waste of money to me.

Hello there, thank you kindly for your feedback! I completely appreciate the frustration experienced when your spa's chlorine levels aren't maintaining! We do have a simple solution of turning your output level to 10, then shocking the spa with chlorine granules repeatedly, until your spa test strip holds a chlorine level over a 24 hour period. Keep an eye out for an email, so I can further help you get this accomplished. Thanks!

Enjoying our new tub, but feeling like the jets are "off".
And I don't know how to better describe the issue other than I wish a technician intimately familiar with the Pulse model could come over and sit IN the tub, going seat to seat and adjusting as needed.
There are also some funky noises that only a certified tech may be able to identify.
Anyway we can get someone out?

Hello there, glad to hear you are enjoying your Limelight Pulse spa! Regarding your jets, you should be able to turn the faces clockwise or counter clockwise to open / close most jets in your spa. I will shoot you an email to dive further and see what I can do to help before getting a tech out there. Thanks for your feedback!

Love this hot tub!! So relaxing! The only comments I would have for improvement would be the front panel is not easy to remove or replace. Also would love jets at the calf area in at least one seat. However I am absolutely thrilled with our purchase!

Hot tub is very comfortable. All seats are useable, clearly the corners are more relaxing with the majority of jets there. Water quality with the salt water system is fairly straightforward. Water level is acceptable and seat depth is great. We’ve had it for about 2 months and use it basically everyday, it almost calls to you for your daily relaxation.

Great Tub! Hard to claim warranty...

The tub is great - we us it frequently and it fits our young family of five just fine. Water maintenance is a breeze. It gets very cold here in Maine during the winter and we can still use it with snow on the ground!
The service from HotSpring / Watkins has been less than good. About six months ago cracks were noticed on the shell of the tub during a service visit. My local dealer initiated a warranty claim, in which HotSpring agreed to and offered a new replacement tub. That is where the trail has ended. Many e-mails to Watkins without reply. My local dealer says they will not give an estimated date of replacement.
Honestly, even just a reply from the Watkins on the status would be highly appreciated. I continue to follow-up weekly, I know they are getting the e-mails as I get their auto-reply... Super bummed this snag is souring the mostly good relationship.

As a veteran it helps with all my aches and pains and I have many after 35 years of service. My wife had a blood clot years ago with the birth of our daughter and her circulation in her leg has been horrible ever since and the swelling has been very hard to deal with. Since our purchase so much circulation has improved and swelling is at a minimal. It has been a life changer!!!!

I would and will recommend Hot Springs to anyone who asks and am constantly praising your tubs. With moderate high blood preasure my doctor says this should help with that and much more. We are in it at 6:30 am and again in the evening and feel somuch better. A life changer! Thank you!

We are very happy with our decision to get the Pulse Hot Tub Saltwater system. The size is absolutely perfect, love the circle on the bottom so you can hold yourself up, as well as massage your feet. The different lights are fun on the inside and I like the exterior lights for night time. Lastly, the jets are amazing! Perfectly placed and excellent pressure. We love our hot tub and are happy with our purchase!

I love the Pulse. My wife and I enjoy it very much as do all of our friends. Only problem we had was after a power outage, we couldn't power it back up. 6 days later, the maintenance guys fixed the problem. Still not sure what problem was because they never got back or sent us any paperwork. Didn't charge us, so that's good. Hope it doesn't happen during next power outage.

When my wife and I decided to purchase a hot tub, salt water was a must. All the benefits were too big to pass off. The choices are plentiful, and Great Atlantic was very helpful in learning about what fit our needs and wants. Every person we spoke to from sales, management, installers, and electricians seemed to enjoy their job. They were very knowledgeable about the product and technologies. As expected, startup was challenging. We have well water so it compounded the issues but after 2 weeks things were inline. To be clear, the only thing I had to do as a "startup" is get the water right. The only negative was we were told someone would be calling to check in on how it was going. We never got the call. I will say I called customer service twice and both times it was a very pleasant conversation.

I am a 52 year old firefighter/paramedic who bought this hot tub for therapy more than pleasure. I spent 3-4 thousand more on HotSprings vs the competitor because of what I thought was the highest quality, warranty and customer service in the business...I may have been wrong and let me tell you why.
I was excited the day came when my spa was delivered. The crew placed it on my deck and then the problems began. The length and location of my electrical wire was wrong. I had it installed per job site inspection and it was to short and on wrong side. I had an electrician re wire the feed the next day before the installer was to arrive. The installer called and said he would be here in an hour to finish the install and get it going. I reminded him the tub was empty so he asked if I would run a hose and fill it before he arrived. I ran a hose to the tub and started filling it ( I have a well stem for water ). I checked on it after about 30 minutes and found all the water had ran down my property and not filled the tub as the plug was left out by the previous crew. I called him and he told me it should have been put in and asked if I would install it. I said sure but where is it? He said stapled in an envelope on the back of the front panel. I did this and started to fill the tub.
By this time I had drained my treated water tanks and now was using untreated well water at a very low pressure. The installer finished wiring it up and was waiting for the water to fill the tub. After a couple hours it was obvious we needed another hour or two and he said he had to leave. He left instructions on how much salt to add once it was full and how much of each chemical to add and said it would be good to go. Long story short the water in the well was untreated and after adding what he told ne to I tested the water. The digital display on the tub showed the salt was was to high and my test strip was no where close to correct.
the sent out another person to address the water issues. This took 3-4 weeks, multiple trips, multiple people to figure out why they could not get the water to balance. I had to drain the water and refill twice to lower the salt level which finally worked.
So now I think it's going to be easy...wrong again. After 2 months the tub light turns yellow. Multiple calls turns out the salt system cartridge is bad already Technition asked what my level was set at and I say 10, right where they left it. Any lower and it won't keep any chlorine levels at all. They think its a bad unit so they come out and replace it and lower level setting. Chlorine levels won't register on test strip so I raise the level back to 10 which barely produces enough to register.
Then winter comes and I see water leaking, first broken fitting. A couple months later another broken fitting and another few days tub is down. In 6 months I've used 3 salt system cartridges, 2 broken fittings and chlorine is usually low.
Now June hits, tub is only 9 months old. The red light is on for the second time. Service called and say will be a week at least. Girlfriend has had enough and they say they had a cancellation and will be out the next day. Now thermistor assy hi limit and thermistor assy control are broken and have to be replaced
All of this on top of...oh yea, the jets are all rusting now. Photos taken and sent to service 2 weeks ago. We hear nothing so we call and they lost email to corporate and will re send. Call again today and told never heard from corporate will re send.
In my opinion Ohio Pool and Spas should not carry your product as they are destroying your name with their terrible service. Secondly I think I received a lemon of a hot tub. I would love to hear what you as the manufacturer has to say about your product and customer satisfaction. Oh and since Covid-19 I work quite a bit more and would love to be able to rejuvenate in my spa stress free but that doesn't seem to be happening!

Response from HotSpringBy Vanessa, Customer Service , July 1, 2020
Thank you for taking the time to share your review. I am sorry that this has been your spa experience. A hot tub should be relaxing. You bring up a good point about treated well water and needing to start on the right foot. It seems like a snowball effect of issues affecting one thing after another. I am sure if the system was started with the extra steps for treating well water or the treated water was not lost, things would have been different. Prolonged over chlorination will have the result of rusted jets, and since it is a water care issue, it is not covered under warranty. However, we made an exception and sent new jets for replacement. It is the right thing to do, and you must have a clean, healthy spa to soak in. I believe that your spa water has since been adjusted and is now online. I will email you to make sure that your spa is operating as it should. Thank you for your service and hard work. I hope that you are not able to relax in your spa. Please stay safe.

Thank you for bringing up a great point. Spa water circulation is essential. Your spa has continuous circulation as long as your spa has power to it; it is programmed to keep the water moving. The clean cycle is an optional program that allows you to set a time for the high jets to cycle additional water. This program runs for 10 minutes and is typically used for heavier bather loads. If you have additional questions or concerns about your spa please contact Customer Service at 800-999-4688 ext 8432. Happy Hot Tubbing!

I had the pleasure of dealing with Jerry from Spring Dance Hot Tubs during my buying experience. I'm very happy with their service and with my Pulse hot tub. The setup seems pretty simple as far as water filling and treatment goes. The seats in the Pulse tub are very comfortable, even for a 6'2" individual like myself. And kids love it too. And I really like that the tub has many spots to put your drink/phone/etc. I've seen some tubs with only one or two such spots, and that's a big turn-off. The only small complaint I have is about the control panel - for a 2020 model hot tub it seems very archaic. Otherwise, loving it.
