Disappointed in set up and maintenance

We’ve had nothing but issues since the delivery. We were told this hot tub was low maintenance and the instructions also indicate the upkeep is low maintenance. We have a much different experience. It is high maintenance and very frustrating. We called to report issues twice, one person came out and told us to add the chlorine and follow the directions on the panel and told us our hard water was the issue and we need to drain the hot tub and start over. No one mentioned hard water would present an issue. We have to add chlorine nearly every day. Even so, it is green every day. The panel always indicates our chlorine is low and the cartridge needs to be changed. We have changed the cartridge twice in three months. We are trying to avoid draining the tub as we don’t want to flood the area or run a pipe to the road. You would think paying $16,000 for a hot tub would come with high level service, ensuring the hot tub runs smoothly and checkins. Except for the one person coming out in response to our complaints, no one has checked in to see how ownership is going or followed up to see if the hot tub is working any better. It is not. We wish we would have not purchased this hot tub.

Love Spa but hard to figure out chemicals

We are really enjoying our Grandee spa. They only issue
Is figuring out the chemicals. Our test strips never show any
Chlorine. Other than trying to figure out chemicals(which we are
New to) the spa is wonderful. Lots of space.

Love the tub

This is our first spa and we couldn’t be happier. We use it every night and it’s our favorite way to wind down the day with a great soak. Don’t know why it took us so long to purchase one, but soooooo glad we did!!!!

Looks great, but…

Great looks, but doesn’t hold up and getting parts and service is terrible!! On my 2nd controller and 3rd controller battery and now I need to replace the controller and the dock at over $1000! This is turning into one of the worst purchases I think I have ever made. To make matters worse, Hot Springs has not responded to my request for help in over 2 weeks!

We love our spa! The chemical portion is a little tricky and we would’ve appreciated the truth from the salesman about it, but it is what is and its manageable.

Grand-daughter found a free grandee on facebook listing, that had a leak. Wealthy owners simply bought a new one.
20 YO model of Grandee, all jets and heaters still work fine, heats fine and tstat still accurate.
Did take 2 days to find and fix leak in jet piping. The reset button for overheat is VERY hard to find and operate as GD filled with hot water one time.
Leak was cracked pvc pipe buried in insulation.
Biggest design negative was no insulation on access door to pumps, added 4 inches of poly foam, noticeably reduced power consumption (instajled kw-hr meter on the circuit)

Light assembly burned up.

Spa is three years old. In screened in porch. Three moto light lenses found floating in spa, plus main light will not display (also found to be leaking around gasket).
When repair company came (out of warranty) and we turned lights on, smoke came from one side of the spa. After having to saw into side and remove insulation, found light assembly burned (source of the smoke).
Result - replaced 3 perimeter lights and one light assemply, plus main light and assembly. 3.5 hours labor with 3 techs. $740.
Already has to replace 3 moto jets.
Very disappointed.

The Grandee was the final, and most beautiful addition to our backyard retreat. We now have our own private space to relax and unwind after a long day at work. The extreme high quality and beauty makes it even better. The ability to customize the exterior and interior shells was great too!

Bought a Grandee 23 years ago and I will admit, I was a horrible hot tub owner. Never had the chemicals right and let things go. It finally took a knee but not so bad a neighbor didn't come and get it, LIVE ON!
We bought the 2024 Grandee and it is amazing! It is idiot proof. Yes, they engineered me out of the equation. It digitally tells you the chemical settings and the salt water system is unbelievable. Push a button and it adjusts it and if it needs a little PH up or down it tells you how many teaspoons to put in. Then it has a clean cycle you can set on a timer.
Burton Pools and Spas in Northwest Arkansas (Steve Hodges) did us right!

Why did we wait so long?

My wife and I are recent empty nesters and decided to treat ourselves to something we had been talking about for years. So for our 25th anniversary we decided to buy a hot tub. We sat in 4 different tubs, the last of which was the Grandee. I'm sure this is intentional as after sitting in the others, the Grandee is like the Sportscar in a line of minivans. Being 6'2" I wanted a larger size and the Grandee fit the bill perfectly. Seating 7 also allows for entertaining without feeling cramped. Both my doctor and my wife's acupuncturist recommended for health benefits and I can report that after a month of using daily we both feel amazing. I have found several positions that will massage whatever is aching, from the bottom of your feet to the top of your shoulders. And the pressure! It's literally like a human massage when you're done. Our only regret is waiting so long, if you're on the fence, let this review be your push to make that call. HIGHLY recommend.

Love our Spa!

The Grandee spa is terrific. We've been married for 31 years and bought our first spa 27 years ago (and 4 houses ago!) Unless we are out of town, we typically use it about 3-4 nights per week. We entertain out-of-town guests frequently and when they're here - it gets used every day.
This is our second Grandee and we are very happy with it. It was just installed a month ago. Our previous one lasted more than 20 years. It's very comfortable, the jets are nice and strong and the lighting system is extremely pretty. We love the optional "water fall".
We sometimes use it in the middle of the day after a day of boating, but mainly it's after exercise and before bed. Extremely relaxing and definitely improves our sleep.
You will not regret owning a spa.

poor choice in spa maker

we purchased spa from local dealer, who no longer is servicing spa. appears they had no technician, and lost contract? new service not much better, long wait time. in less than a year remote no longer functions, and hot springs has offered no response to our concerns. after multiple emails to customer service manager, we have been left high and dry related to spa problems. we should not be having problems so soon with spa, as i have had several spas, and never experienced such poor quality, and lack of service. hot springs never again, unfortunately i own it.

Ten Year Owner Experience

Purchased a Grandee in 2014; seems the basic model is mostly unchanged. We used it multiple times a week the first couple of years, then maybe twice a week then more like once a week to this day. We live near Philadelphia and keep it running year round. Use it quite often fall - spring, less in summer when it's hot.
The fiberglass body still looks like it did the day it was installed. Exterior also looks good. The pumps themselves all work great. The ACE water system works quite well and the water maintenance has been pretty easy once I figured it out. Drain / clean / refill it about every 3 months it's not a huge amount of work but it does take some time and the weather has to cooperate. Maintenance costs are about what they told us - replaced the filters twice, the ACE cell twice, and the cover once so far but it needs to be replaced again. The controller needs to be replaced but is hard to find. All these things are several hundred $ and up.
The main heater just broke (not too bad after 10 years) - between that, the cover, and the controller seems might be time to replace. Will certainly be cheaper to refurb these things and keep it but not sure which will do.
The 'Moto Massage' NEVER worked correctly. This model has 2 of these - twice we had someone come out under warranty to fix it. They got one going OK but the other one never did work right. The second one failed eventually also. If we decide to re-invest, might look into fixing this ourselves now that we're well past warranty (we're both engineers and do A LOT of DIY). If we replace, will definitely NOT be buying a model with this feature.
The sound system also stopped working after a while but we didn't pay extra for it so don't care. Didn't even want it initially because didn't expect to use it but it was a 'special' at the local dealer. We still had one kid at home at the time who was a teenager and he definitely used it. Fortunately it broke after he graduated college so didn't matter to us .
On the balance, it's something we very much enjoy having and this model is a nice one. I would definitely be looking to keep this type of water treatment system. I came to the website specifically to see what they have available these days so I did come back. We were not very impressed with the folks they sent out for repairs / maintenance. They didn't seem well trained and didn't stock the parts that (according to them) break often so one call turns into 2 or 3. Was not easy to schedule these calls either. I imagine this varies quite a bit from place to place, and this is all pre-pandemic experience YMMV.

Something seems wrong

I purchased a grandee a couple of months ago with the additional monitoring feature so I wouldn't have to use test strips to maintain water quality. Unfortunately the monitoring unit reads inaccurately...sometimes giving very high or very low chlorine levels, PH levels, etc. only to find out the readings are wrong (by use of test strips). I also have issues with the salt water chlorine generator...I have seen almost zero levels of chlorine with the generator set to 8, 9 or even 10. the booster doesn't work. I wind up having to add chlorine manually to keep levels from being way too low. This hot tub is definitely not worth the significant premium i paid for it.
