Hotspring Tubs - very poor quality and even worse customer service

Hotspring markets their tubs as the premium tub on the market. That is far from the experience I have had with the quality and customer service. Hotsprings does not support the local distributor, Oasis in Montana, they do not back their Spas. Getting warranty parts is impossible on a brand new tub. My new tub is inoperable and no one returns calls or emails. Amazing...My advice, don't buy a Hotspring or any Watkins product, they do not back what they build.

We were sold the spa with the Salt system, and told that would generate the chlorine we needed and Cells would need to be replaced every (4) month, and cost around $40 each. This is not the case, we burn through cells after only (2) months, and cells are $92 each, that's $46 a month for cells, and are not happy. Our dealer does not give us any answers. So instead of $120 a year of ongoing cell replacement cost, the true cost of running this tub is $550.
We spent more than double on this tub over the competition. This was based on the salt system, which does not work as described. My advice is to buy a lesser-priced spa that still used Chlorine.

Hot Spring ruined a perfectly good spa

I bought my 3rd envoy sight unseen as I had two older versions and they were perfect and bullet proof. They have been cheapened and now cause me more stress than they relieve.
Let's start with the remote. Not sure how that became a thing but it does not work but half the time. It's gotta search for the spa then load the 11 steps to pair it. I have to cycle the power on and off several times a week just to get it to work and it also needs to be reset by holding your finger on it too often. It has the intensity of a 100 watt bulb and it has a dimmer setting but you have to rest it every time it has to be rebooted so that worthless. If you like spa at night be prepared to see spots if you look at that thing but you will be able to see it on a bright sunny day without putting hand over it. They have a "light" and "jet" button you can use but they are about as useful as the remote. I'd pay to have it hard wired.
The shells of my previous two Envoy's were so solid and if you smacked the side of it with your fist it had the most amazingly hard "Thud". My new one sounds hollow and rattles when you wrap on it. I cant confirm for sure but it feels smaller than previous Envoys as I'm a long body and I used to sit deeper in the spa. I sit higher in the spa now.
Many of the jets are individually adjustable which seems like a good idea but they perpetually close while operating so I'm constantly having to turn them back on.
Great finish and good pump curves but I'm in full on buyers remorse and wished I'd have bought a motorcycle instead of this spa.

I have the Hot Springs Envoy Freshwater system and I am so happy I went with the saltwater system!
I was on the fence about saltwater because I've read so many have a hard time getting their system to generate chlorine but mine is after some hard work.
First I ran the tub about a month and I struggled to get my system to generate chlorine so I decided to dump the water and use a spa purge to clean the jets really good because I read that new tubs can be dirty where they test the jets in the factory and some water stays in the jets.
I then refilled and the I tested my water for phosphates which my tub had. I bought a phosphate test kit off Amazon and it showed I had about 200 ppb. I bought some phosphate remover and some clarifier. I used that per the instructions then all my phosphates was gone. I don’t have to worry about hard water. I have city water and it’s quite soft. It reads at 25 ppm.
After doing all that, my system started generating chlorine like it should. I keep my number on 3 and even then it makes the chlorine reading between 5-10 unless a few people get in. Then I have to add a little bit of liquid chlorine after.
This system is so easy once you get it running the correct way. I don’t have to do hardly anything to it now. I just check it weekly. I also love the lights and the waterfall on the Envoy. It’s so peaceful and relaxing. The jets can be changed to come out hard or soft. Motomassage is awesome on the lounger. Also I’m female about 5’7 and I don’t float in the lounger.

Using It Too Much

Am I using my tub too much? I already have to replace my expensive salt cartridge after one month. my son uses the tub one hour every morning then 2-3 of us use it one hour every night. I put one tablespoon of granular dichlor in after every use but the next morning it shows 0 CL. the salt system is set at 8, and the ph appears to be 7.2 (I ordered a digital tester since I have a hard time distinguishing between the orange/pink color shades). alkalinity, hardness, salt are all within target ranges. Water has also gotten a little foamy (we don't religiously shower before each use) Is one month realistic to replace cartridge or should I really get four months like they say? We love soaking in the tub, but for this much cost and effort it seems best to go to a normal hot tub (i.e. remove the salt system?) Or should we stop using the tub so much? Thanks, much appreciated.

Good for 5-6 years, then major components fail

I loved this hot tub the first 5-6 years. However it’s worth noting that whatever you spend, you should consider this a 5-6 year investment. We have had major problems, expensive problems, at that point. The cover has to be replaced every 5 years, which we knew up front and so was expected, but we didn’t expect the tub to leak, motors to fail and the control interface to stop working - all major expenses. Be careful with who you partner with as a faker. We had one choice and they were good in the delivery and installation, but to have any service is a huge hassle and takes multiple calls. One the later call to fix links they said they will have to literally drain and remove the tub to a sho an hour away. Since it was leaking and it has to be done to work, we agreed and scheduled this. That was 3 months ago and even with multiple calls they have not yet come to service it. So, we have a very expensive table in the back now that serves no other purpose. Definitely frustrated with Hot Springs and would definitely not recommend.

I love my new Envoy. Very well designed, but I have two main issues. 1. The chlorine generator is not working. Yes, I’ve tried what you might suggest. I worked on hot tubs for over a decade. 2. Very hard to enter/exit. Once you’ve walked up the spa steps to enter you have to step on the curve of a lounge seat. There’s also two small jets that will break if people continue to step on. I just lost my footing trying to exit and had a very bad fall. Busted my elbow pretty bad. I’ve had the pleasure of getting in and out of hundreds of hot tubs from various manufacturers, and this has been the most difficult one to get in/out. I love everything else about our new hot tub. It’s really helped my back out.

We decided to pull the trigger on the purchase of a Hot Spring spa at the onset of the covid lockdown in early 2020 as a way of having another venue for our family to spend time together other than sharing the view of the four walls of our living room. And what an affirming decision that turned out to be! Not only did we spend an inordinate amount of time in our new tub when we weren't allowed to travel, but even now when we can get out and about again into the world, we often find ourselves still staying home to enjoy the warmth and relaxation of our spa......................just because it's so darn fun! Not to mention it being the perfect place for wonderful family chit-chat time!

My wife and I enjoy the spa practically every day. We especially love it in the cool weather and even when it’s snowing or raining; we use our umbrella with lights and really make a moment of the spa. We enjoy our coffee Saturdays and Sundays in the mornings and most evenings we share our day with each other over bubbles.

Great Spa but initial set up difficult

We purchased our spa with a salt water system for ease of care. However, to get the water balanced properly so the system works was confusing, frustrating, and took over a month. Also, the salt inserts are supposed to last nearly 4 months but last a month at best. These are very expensive. Our dealer has replaced 2 at no charge but it is still frustrating.
The spa itself is awesome. It is comfortable and we absolutely love it!

We have had our Hot Tub for 8 months. We have used 4 of the salt water cartridges already ( they are suppose to last 4 months). The salt system is suppose to create the chlorine, but I still add chlorine once or twice weekly. I was expecting alot less.
The tub itself is awesome! Jets hit all the right spots. I really didn’t notice my energy bill going up.
The only other thing is I wish the manual went into much greater detail with water maintenance/ chemical use.

We purchased our Envoy Hot tub in Nov 2020 from Splashtown Pools and Spa of Rome, Ga. Those guys are the best very knowledgeable. They took us through each process to get our water levels correct because in our area we have high phosphates in our water. This made our salt system not work as it should. Shalon, Gary, Matt and Jennifer helped us every step of the way. Now maintenance is a breeze ! The Envoy Hot tub is awesome every seat in it is a “best” seat. My husband has a physical job so he comes home tired and sore..... He gets in the Hot tub and comes out refreshed and restored! It has changed our life and health for the better..... Wish we had purchased it years ago.

Pandemic Stress Relief via a really good Soak

Bought a high life 5 person floor model from the local dealer just before Covid lockdown started. Managed to get a pad poured and electrical ready and took delivery. The cart/trailer delivery tool made it an easy task to get it right where I wanted. Chemicals, water.changes and other care has been simple and is now maybe 15 min a week and a couple hours every 3-4 months. Put a lift kit on the cover and it makes using it easy for one person. Quality of tub appears good and everything holding up well after my first year with it.

This spa was the best investment I’ve made in years. The functionality and appearance is fantastic! We even used it during a big snowstorm! Was absolutely beautiful! Something I would have never had been able to experience without this gorgeous spa. I didn’t feel cooped up all winter as we used it a couple days a week.
